Rolf
Heine Hochfrequenztechnik has succeeded to do another step forward in
space technology. Astrium has placed an order for the design and
manufacturing of a subsystem for the earth observation satellite
TerraSAR.
This
subsystem is part of the rf-section of the central electronic, which
can be considered as the core of the TerraSAR´s radar instrument.
This
order is another proof of the convincing technology and quality level
of Rolf Heine Hochfrequenztechnik. Since years the company is a
reliable partner for different space projects. It is remarkable, that
for the TerraSAR Project not only single devices have been ordered,
even a complete subsystem.
TerraSAR
is a national project, which provides loads of data for the observation
of the earth. The satellite is worth about 130 million Euro (approx.
130 million US $ ). Launching is planned for mid of 2005 with a Russian
rocket. The mission will last for 5 years in an orbit of about 500 km
height. The satellite is scanning the earth during day and night with
radar beams. Even through dense clouds objects smaller than 1 metre can
be detected. This independency from daylight and weather conditions
makes the TerraSAR ideal suitable for catastrophe applications.
This order is the current height of Rolf Heine
Hochfrequenztechnik in space technology.
